\"\"Communist Work Carries on Despite Covid Lockdowns<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

It\u2019s been quite a while without sharing activities from our shores.\u00a0 I guess the Covid – 19 pandemic and the lockdowns have got a lot to do with our inactivity.<\/p>\n

Having said that, there has also been some movement albeit limited actions.<\/p>\n

I had always been getting a good supply of Red Flag<\/strong><\/em>s, \u201cMobilize the masses for communism\u201d and Soldiers pamphlets, and another one that deals with dialectical materialism.\u00a0 I made sure that I share these with workers and students.<\/p>\n

There is an interest group of workers that always meet fortnightly over the specific task of influencing who emerges as leadership in the national union.\u00a0 I distribute Red Flag<\/strong><\/em> to every member and the response is a positive one.<\/p>\n

In the neighborhood, we also have meetings for safety, because of a rise in house break-ins and robbery, I am always ready with a good supply of RF.<\/p>\n

Spreading communist ideas through Red Flag<\/strong><\/em> couldn\u2019t be easier.<\/p>\n

Communist Agriculture:\u00a0 What Was It, What Will It Be?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

I gave the last edition of Red Flag<\/strong><\/em> to my workmate to read in our lunch hour.\u00a0 There was an article relevant to us at work.\u00a0 However, she read through a lot of the paper and was particularly interested in the article on climate change.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt says we need communist agriculture\u201d she said. \u201cWhat does that entail?\u201d<\/p>\n

As she is from Romania and grew up there under the Communist Party\u2019s failed socialist attempt at creating communism, I thought she would have an example which might be positive. But she did not really know about the collective farming.\u00a0 She said her grandparents were private farmers performing traditional farming.<\/p>\n

I had no answer for her. But I said it was something we should think carefully about.<\/p>\n

It made me think about the Peoples Commune movement in China in the 1950s and the Collectivisation of agriculture in the Soviet Union in the 1930s. We should analyse these and other attempts at transforming agriculture in a communist direction and their positive and negative aspects and their successes and failures.<\/p>\n

Bring Workers\u2019 Voices into Articles about Imperialist Conflict and War<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

\u201cHow can we make Red Flag<\/em><\/strong> articles about imperialist conflict and war more useful?\u201d a comrade asked their collective.\u00a0 \u201cI read them all because I work on the paper.\u00a0 But do you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI watch a Japanese TV station NHK,\u201d another comrade responded.\u00a0 \u201cThey have a lot about the US-China conflict.\u00a0 Do you think a US-China war can be avoided?\u201d\u00a0 She didn\u2019t mention reading the Red Flag<\/em> articles about this.\u00a0 Later she said she usually just read the stories and letters about the party\u2019s work in South Africa, India, El Salvador and other places.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreparations for that war are already happening,\u201d replied the first comrade.\u00a0 \u201cAnd the closest the US has ever come to nuclear war (except for the US bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki) was probably over Taiwan.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t read anything,\u201d a third comrade admitted.\u00a0 \u201cIncluding Red Flag<\/em>.\u00a0 I just don\u2019t read. Other people are like that too.\u00a0 They listen to podcasts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, we really need to make podcasts of the articles as well as printing the paper,\u201d said the first comrade.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have read every word of the papers you have sent me electronically,\u201d said a friend who was attending our meeting for the first time.\u00a0 \u201cI would rather read a paper copy.\u00a0 What I really like is the workers\u2019 voice in most of the articles.\u00a0 It is relatable to me even though I work in a different industry.\u00a0 Everyone has hopes for something different.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy partner and I have all the equipment you\u2019d need to make podcasts,\u201d she added.\u00a0 \u201cI would like to help with that.\u201d\u00a0 She agreed to put together a proposal for how that could work.\u00a0\u00a0 Everyone is excited about this new project.<\/p>\n

\u201cWould the RF articles about global affairs be better if they also had workers\u2019 voices in them?\u201d asked the first comrade. \u201cSome of us are thinking about how to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, definitely,\u201d others chimed in.<\/p>\n

We appreciate the hard work of comrades who research and write the informative Red Flag\/Bandera Roja<\/em> articles about global affairs.\u00a0 We hope that others will step up to help with this.\u00a0 We welcome new ideas about how to make these articles more useful tools to mobilize masses for communism.<\/p>\n
