The centuries-old assumption that young black men are public enemy
number one is still alive today. The recent Missouri rebellion over the police
slaying of Mike Brown by Ferguson police builds on the anger from rebellions of
the past all over the US, including most well-known, Oscar Grant and Trayvon Martin, and the pain of those less-known victims of
police murder like Ezell Ford, killed by the LAPD in South LA this Monday.
Because these aren't isolated incidents, this has touched a chord in street
protests and social media that shows that the
community is making sure that these don't go unnoticed.
Capitalism Needs Racism
Racism is the life blood of capitalism. A very few rich people—way less
than 1%—make their money off of the work of the 99+%. Racism allows them
to make millions to keeping black and Latinos in the worst jobs, and all
workers fighting each other over the crumbs. They use racist cops to keep us
terrorized and racist lies to keep us from trusting each other and uniting
against them. When they shoot a young black man, they criminalize him, making
him look like a thug in the pictures they post in the media. It's the same lies
they tell about every group—for example, Mexicans are stealing "our jobs"
or "all white people are rich."
But the Bosses Have a Problem
Racism works to terrorize us and keep us in line. But this is a problem
for the bosses if they need us to believe in their system or fight in their
wars. That's why Obama went on TV to tell the cops not to attack the
demonstrators. That's why they sent in the Missouri State Highway Patrol (with
a black captain) to take over from the Ferguson cops. They hope that a black
president and black cops can make us believe in the system. But it's not our system. They can buy
off a few black and Latino elected officials, but that's just decoration. The
system is still based on racism.
We Need Communist Revolution
That's why we can't be deceived by politicians or
so-called leaders like Al Sharpton who tell us to pray for justice. We
need to fight for power. We need to build a communist movement of workers,
students and soldiers of all so-called races to fight for a system without
money, bosses, cops or borders.
Because we won't be ruled over by a few rich bosses, but will be
building a society where we share what we produce, we can end racism. We won't
be fighting each other, but working together for the good of all.
People who are angry about racist police murders are looking for answers,
an end to racism and police terror. We know that capitalism can't end racism.
