HUEHUETOCA, MEXICO STATE--Around
2 o'clock on Saturday morning, November 2,
2013, a group of youth left a dance and suddenly
found themselves in the middle of a street
fight. This fight was near the City Hall of Huehuetoca,
near Mexico City, where a policeman
shot 14 year old Christian Daniel Santillán Martinez,
killing him instantly and wounding his
uncle.
We live in an insecure society especially for
youth who want to have healthy fun and don't
know what danger could lie around the corner.
Tired of police abuse and seeing that police
don't protect them and only want to rob them,
the residents of the area smashed two police
cars and set fire to the town hall with candles
that had been placed at the entrance for the Day
of the Dead. They also poured gasoline, causing
the fire to spread faster.
The next morning, 300 police came to guard
what was left of the building. They arrested
three policemen, but the one who shot the youth
had fled. Relatives and villagers protested in
front of the police with messages like, "The police
don't protect, they murder."
Huehuetoca is a city with economic growth
that has benefitted the bosses. That's why they
need to use police terror to guarantee profits
flowing from exploiting farmworkers.
We workers don't need police; we need to
build our party, the ICWP, to fight for a world
without oppressors and murderers. We need a
communist world in which we workers will be
in charge of our security. There won't be city
halls, jails, courts, or police which represent the
bosses' tyranny.
