LOS ANGELES (USA), August 4— “I’m afraid to go to my delivery job at the garment factories because immigration is kidnapping people. Even though I’m a citizen, I have nightmares that immigration will deport me,” commented a comrade.
President Trump and his campaign to combat illegal immigration, criminalizing any worker who has crossed the border without legal permission, has created fascist terror among many workers, immigrants, and citizens.
Cities with large immigrant populations, such as those in Texas, Florida, and California, suddenly became ghost towns.
The Border Patrol, with the support of other federal agents, in addition to bounty hunters, began violently abducting day laborers, street vendors, and others. They even seized legally documented workers and citizens.
“Our way of life was transformed. From believing we lived in a country that defended supposed freedom, to a country where the terror of being kidnapped by hooded men, gangsters with permission from the federal government, became our new reality,” said one worker.
But the multiracial working masses, and especially the children of citizens and descendants of undocumented parents, also found ways to resist these attacks.
From blocking immigration patrols with their bodies, to throwing stones at patrol cars disguised as private cars, to monitoring federal agents in the hotels where they stayed and even creating apps that gave an idea of where one could encounter these state terrorists.
“These collective and bold actions brought tears of emotion to my eyes. For many years, as a garment worker and member of ICWP, we tried to raise class consciousness by taking our communist newspaper, Red Flag, to the garment factories.
“Now, with the new reality of attacks on our working class, the fear of being kidnapped and separated from my daughters terrifies me. But thanks to the communist ideas of winning workers to organize for the revolution that will destroy the
social class divide, I am inspired to continue taking our newspaper to the marches and protests against the ICE raids,” said a comrade.
The idea of destroying social classes is an urgent necessity. The wealthy class in power will lead us to more wars and attacks against other workers around the world. The capitalist class controls the army, the police, the banks, and all their activities.
Workers don’t need bosses to steal our lives and our labor. We produce food, clothing, homes, and weapons.
We need a communist world where all workers enjoy global production for our benefit, without the need for intermediaries like banks or financial groups.
“Invite me to all the marches to spread the Party’s ideas. I will continue fighting for that communist world, because there is no other option,” said the comrade mentioned at the beginning.
Long live the International Working Class! Long live Communism!
