Fighting US Fascism 2025

Whose History?

USA, September 17: The famous photograph in the center (from 1863) shows the terrible scars of whipping on a formerly enslaved man known only as Gordon. It is being removed from the National Portrait Gallery. President Trump has demanded removal of materials that he claims show the US in a bad light. But no US museum has ever shown all three photographs.
The series shows a man who escaped from slavery joining the fight to end chattel slavery during the US Civil War. But even this series doesn’t show the united fight of Black and white abolitionists, especially the raid led by John Brown on the Harpers’ Ferry Armory (then in Virginia).
Do you want the truth about the fight against racism in the US and globally?

Letter: Charlie Kirk: Another Day, Another Shooting

September 10, 2025, Utah Valley University: Charlie Kirk, 31, right-wing political commentator, founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated. Sniped in the neck and pronounced dead within a couple hours. The news rang across the globe with diverse reactions in waves of sorrow, joy, anger, and fear. These collided publicly, costing people their jobs and friends.
The irony of his assassination was not lost on most. Charlie Kirk, victim of gun violence, said in April 2023, “I think it’s worth it to have the cost of… some gun deaths each year so that we can have the Second Amendment.” He was discussing his perspective on gun violence as he was shot under a tent reading “prove me wrong.”
So people wondered – does this person deserve empathy or did the chickens come home to roost?
Social media comments flooded with opinions. Even ‘progressives’ AOC and Bernie Sanders condemned the shooting. California Governor Gavin Newsom posted on X stating he admired Kirk and will honor his memory through debate, calling his assassination vile and reprehensible. The sentiment of politicians came as: political violence has no place in America. With the level of gun violence in the US, a common sentiment among liberal citizens is this is an example of why we need gun control.
Communists and anti-Zionists pointed out hypocrisy in the outcry for Kirk, while there’s a genocide in Palestine, Sudan is facing mass starvation, and children die daily in Congolese mines. This hypocrisy is amplified by progressives praising Kirk’s legacy.
The political divide between liberals and conservatives is a sham. They all uphold the same system – capitalism. A system that exhausts the public, instilling fear of scarcity to maintain blind obedience. But with the internet, it’s become impossible to evade cognitive dissonance.
Kirk’s death overshadows tragedies in the US and across the globe. Rallies popped up such as in Huntington Beach, where neo-Nazis gathered, “honoring” Kirk, chanting “White man fight!” Supremacists are grieving the loss of a mouthpiece. Mourners threatened multiple historically Black colleges and universities, causing them to cancel classes. Though the shooter is alleged to be 22 year old white Utah man, Tyler Robinson.
While violence toward Kirk is condemned, Kirk commended violence against others. Thousands of his posts online and clips on YouTube fuel the public’s divide.
Kirk promoted racist and homophobic values, calling George Floyd a ‘scumbag,’ slandering the gay community online earlier this year, calling Pride “cultural tyranny,” and going on tangents against Muslims, claiming they hinder society.
Leaving us wondering… Was the shooter waiting for a moment to ‘prove Kirk wrong’? What does it mean for the left as Trump continues his fascist crackdown on major cities? Will this accelerate our fall into fascism or serve as a turning point for Americans realizing that Kirk’s death is considered more important than all the children who were shot or bombed that day? Where do we go from here?
Assassinations may provide shock value but do not serve the communist goal for the destruction of capitalism. Because for capitalism to fall, there must be systemic damage and the new system built from the ground up. Regardless of how we feel, at the end of the day, he is another dead person in capitalism’s pile of corpses.
Another round of thoughts and prayers will not save us. Only revolutionary change will.
