LOS ANGELES (USA), September 15— “On the surface, the ruling class in the US may be divided. Some support the Democratic Party and others the Republicans,” said Carlos, a comrade from Mexico with many years in the US. He had just learned about multiple cases of deportations of people with relatives in the military.
“But the ruling class can move in favor of the most oppressive policies toward the working class if it suits them at a crucial moment. For war preparations, for control of the world market,” Carlos concluded.
“None of them will help the working class,” responded a comrade in El Salvador.
Alberto, a comrade and veteran who joined the military to organize for communism added, “I think Trump and his immigration policy are a clear step toward a fascist state. It’s possible that immigrants in the armed forces wouldn’t be reliable to advance their plans to repress workers.
“For both parties, immigrants are necessary as cannon fodder for the broader wars ahead,” Alberto continued. “Both parties protect capitalism and their interests. We need multiracial unity between immigrants and non-immigrants. Not only to fight them but also to mobilize the masses for communism.”
More than 1.2 million immigrants, undocumented and legal, were deported from January through July.
Deportations affect families with relatives in the armed forces. In 2024, more than 40,000 non-citizens served in the US military. Another 115,000 non-citizens were veterans living in the US. An estimated 80,000 undocumented spouses or parents of military members live in the US.
Democrats are preparing for war and relying on immigrants for it.
Cases of military family members detained by ICE are mounting. Dozens of Democrats launched an investigation into the crumbling of traditional protections for noncitizen service members and their families under the Trump administration.
Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, leads the group. She claims, “This is putting our national security at risk.” It represents “an unprecedented attack on our own military.” More than anything, “it undermines the credibility of the American military when it makes promises to its service members who risked their lives for our country.”
Comrade Carlos remarked, “For there to be no more wars, soldiers must stand with the working class, who make up the majority of the army. Together, soldiers, workers, and students will make communist revolution. For a society without oppressors, exploiters, or bosses who profit from workers, who produce everything society needs.”
Examples of the deportations:
In April, ICE arrested the Argentine wife of an active-duty Coast Guard member when the couple moved into a home on a south Florida naval base.
In June, a father of two active-duty Marines and a Navy veteran was beaten by immigration agents after being detained while landscaping outside an IHOP restaurant in California.
That same month, the wife of a Navy veteran was detained during an immigration appointment.
There’s also the mother of an active-duty Marine who was detained while babysitting her two-year-old grandson at the Yuma Marine Corps Air Station.
And then the case of Army Sergeant Ayssac Correa and his wife, Shirly Guardado.
An agent called Guardado at her job. He wanted her to come outside to talk. In the parking lot, three plainclothes men identified themselves as Department of Public Safety agents. They said that her car had been in an accident. Quickly they grabbed and handcuffed her, admitting they were ICE agents.
A comrade veteran had also joined the military to organize for communism. He said that the deportations of people with relatives in the armed forces “is a clear indication that we need to get rid of this capitalist system. It has historically betrayed all the workers of the world. If they can’t protect the soldiers who protect the US, if they can’t protect us, why protect this system?”
“They provide us soldiers with the most advanced weapons and training in the world,” he continued, “so we must use the technology and training to meet our own needs.”
Immigrant and citizen soldiers need to turn their guns around and make revolution!
