March for Communism on May Day – Build a Mass ICWP
EL SALVADOR, April 6— “They fired a co-worker, with the excuse that she sometimes comes to work at the factory a few minutes late, because of taking her son to the CAPI (Early Childhood Care Centers),” said D.
“She is very capable in her job. I think they fired her to avoid paying the cost of her child’s care. By law the bosses must pay tuition of $72.70 and a monthly fee of $151.40,” said A, another worker.
“These support centers are independent. Employers have to pay for the workers’ children to get early childhood care,” reported D.
Women workers face sexist attacks by a capitalist system every day. Communist society will change everyday life. Roles won’t be assigned on the basis of being male or female. There will be no gender inequality or any kind of sexist discrimination. Childcare will be the responsibility of both parents, and of the whole society.
“In Communist society, children will be cared for with the goal of their integral development while their parents are working,” added Comrade R. “There will be time for family, recreation, and work. Giving attention to what really matters, at the time it is needed, will be a priority. We have to organize and fight for this now.”
“The situation in the maquilas is getting worse and worse,” said M. “In addition to layoffs, there is super-exploitation due to the production goals imposed by the capitalist, thieving, exploitative bosses. They are demanding that the same number of pieces be produced with fewer workers. We workers feel this work overload. Many workers have been laid off and others have sought better job opportunities in other factories. But they are always organizing for ICWP.”
Confront Bosses’ Attacks with More Mobilization for Communism
“In the face of the bosses’ attacks, we have invited the working class in the factory to march for Communism this May Day, 2025. We are making all the preparations for that day to proclaim the fight for a better world,” continued a comrade.
“Today, more than ever, the workers of the countryside and the city, health workers, education workers, and students must distribute Red Flag. Let communist ideas reach the masses. Our comrades in the factory are meeting with the workers’ collectives to coordinate participation with confidence and enthusiasm.”
We have met with the collectives as an urgent need to respond to the direct attacks on the working class around the world. Our class siblings are being arrested and deported. They are dying in capitalists’ wars for profit.
The genocide in Gaza brings deaths of youth, children, elderly, women and men in wars for capitalists’ interests. The same happens in Ukraine, Syria, and beyond. The mass layoffs, racism, xenophobia, and imprisonment of migrants make the mobilization of the masses urgent.
“Communism is the only system capable of putting an end to all this capitalist decay,” said D, a worker leader.
Other comrades continue to visit collectives in various areas of El Salvador to organize the logistics of May Day.
“It is our time. The stronger the repression of the government imposing militarization in the workplaces, hospitals, schools, and the streets, the greater must be our struggle for organization by forming communist collectives in the communities and workplaces,” concluded D.
“We are ready, we will go to the march: my family, other comrades, and we are inviting a friend as well.” said a farmworker comrade.
This May Day, we will make contacts with workers who receive our newspaper Red Flag. It is an opportunity to spread communist ideas more massively and invite marchers to join the International Communist Workers’ Party.
