Genocide in Palestine: “We Are All Starving for Revolution”
June 23—The Zionist regime in Israel blocks food from entering Gaza. And medical aid. And energy. Hospitals go dark. Water pumps fail. Deadly air strikes continue. One million children in Gaza are at risk of starvation. So are a million adults. Thousands are near the brink of death.
The GHF, a joint operation of Israel and US mercenaries, brings a mere trickle of food to a handful of distribution sites. These sites were designed to be traps. Since distributions began on May 27, Israeli attacks on starving and desperate Palestinians near them have killed over 400 and wounded over 1000.
This is genocide. It is a genocidal policy of “ethnic cleansing.” The Zionist rulers and their US imperialist partners intend to destroy the Palestinian population as such. To disperse those they don’t kill to Libya. Or to Jordan. Or to who knows where in a second Nakba, completing the expulsion that began in 1948.
In the West Bank, Zionist occupation troops stand by or assist as fascist settlers drive tens of thousands of Bedouin and Palestinian farmers from their homes, villages, and land. In Syria, Zionist troops occupy the Mount Hermon area.
“Between the [Mediterranean] Sea and the Jordan [River] there will only be Israeli sovereignty,” declared Israel’s Likud Party 1977 platform. Netanyahu’s government – with US support – is making this a reality. With “no Palestinians allowed.”
Will US-Israeli genocidal fascism succeed? Nothing has stopped it so far. Not Iran’s “axis of resistance.” Not condemnations of global humanitarian organizations. Not mass protests that continue to grow worldwide. Not Greta Thunberg and the Madleen’s symbolic effort to deliver aid.
“Egyptian masses are ready to invade the Rafah border,” reports a comrade in Egypt. “But Sisi and his fascist army are depriving people of necessities. The cost of the basic Aish Baladi (Egyptian bread) has quadrupled. People are calling for ‘baladi intifada’ like in 1977 when the hungry people joined the soldiers.”
Anti-genocide forces are growing within Israel, including among military and ex-military. Comrades of the International Communist Workers’ Party stand proudly among them. Other Israelis have “voted with their feet” by leaving the country. But Zionism’s racist propaganda still has a hold on far too many Jewish Israelis.
Palestinians in Gaza are weakened by hunger and continual attacks. But even in Nazi death camps, prisoners found ways to resist and rebel. Palestinians will too.
Only communist revolution can end genocide and ethnic cleansing in Palestine and everywhere. And it will!
“I am giving Red Flag to the hungry people,” said the comrade in Egypt. “We all are starving for revolution.”
