New Delhi: “Long Live Revolution”
NEW DELHI (India), July 10 — “I am bringing all my friends to the Hind Rajab documentary,” said Anju, a member of ICWP. “Everyone I know has been eagerly waiting to see it. I think 40 to 50 people.”
This was no exception, nor an exaggeration. All our ICWP friends have dozens of people who want to see the documentary.
The fascist BJP government, with its pro-Netanyahu Zionist propaganda, has created all kinds of obstacles for the documentary to be screened in India. Its approval was delayed for months by the Censor Board of India.
The fascists have created extreme racism and hate towards Muslims. Any reference to the Gaza genocide is seen as anti-Zionist ideology. But the BJP fascists are also keeping their door open by shedding fake tears for the funeral of the Ayatollah Khamenei.
Censorship has created the opposite effect on the masses. Many people could view the full, uncensored version of the documentary online with a VPN. One comrade showed it to a small group three months ago. That is when the comrades decided to organize much larger participation at the theatre last month.
“You cannot watch the Hind Rajab documentary without reading our two pamphlets on the Gaza genocide. It opens our eyes wide, and you immediately grab several copies of the Red Flag. Genocide can only end with a communist revolution.” This is how comrades described it when it was shown to a small group.
The week when the documentary was officially launched, we had a big problem. We estimated that about 500 friends were interested in watching it. It is very expensive when the film is released in the first week. We had to choose a later date when prices dropped.
However, we could not afford tickets for over 500 people. We decided to open a fundraising drive in the areas where our friends live. We went door to door asking the masses to donate money for “Communist Revolution and Support to End Gaza Starvation”. We carried Red Flag, the Gaza pamphlets, and a jar for collection. We openly said that part of the donation was for people to watch the film, and that anyone can join us.
Many ICWP comrades who had participated in the farmer’s agitation had learned the skills to rely on the masses. Our donation drive was a huge success. We reached so many people who would donate anywhere from R10 to R100 (US$0.10 – $1.05 or 1.7-17 ZAR). We had no big donors. We continued to sustain the drive for several days in many areas. We are also aware of the dangers of fascist hoodlums and undercover provocateurs.
Our donations and numbers swelled due to frustration among unemployed youth. Some of them also joined us to watch the documentary. Suresh, who joined ICWP a few weeks ago, organized a contingent for the event.
Finally, we had enough funds for our main event. We decided to participate in two different showings. Each one had about 200-300 participants. Our weeks-long fund drive also made participants aware of Red Flag. We had nightly meetings as well.
The reception after the documentary was overwhelming. The gripping scenes of helpless five-year-old Hind, cold-blooded murders of the ambulance drivers, and utter brutality of the Zionists had a stunning effect. From standing ovations to tears, to raised fists, our comrades shouted “Inqilab Zindabad” (long live revolution). Communism was alive in the audience.
We learned many valuable lessons. We can organize the masses for communism. And we can rely on the masses to advance our line. We need money to destroy our class enemy. But we learned that the masses would support us. The comrades in Chennai and Bengaluru will immediately follow our example.
This is a clear message that all the imperialists/capitalists are the enemy of the working class. The fascists in New Delhi are flirting with capitalists in Iran one day and cozying up to the Zionist Israelis another day. They are all our class enemies. With this confidence, we are advancing our march for a communist revolution.
“The Voice of Hind Rajab” (2025 Docudrama)
January 29, 2024: five-year-old Hind Rajab is trapped in a car under heavy Israeli military fire in Gaza. She is the sole survivor left among her murdered relatives. Hind’s emergency calls reach Palestine Red Crescent volunteers. They desperately attempt to calm and rescue her. But rescue is obstructed by Zionist military checkpoints and a hostile bureaucracy.
The award-winning film blends actual phone recordings with dramatizations of the emergency workers racing to coordinate paramedics who could save her. The film was made in partnership with Hind’s remaining family and Palestine Red Crescent.
