Letter: Mobilize Billions for Communist Revolution
Students’ and farmworkers’ protests are having a huge following in India. The protest seemed to be a very peaceful one with no reported deaths despite drawing millions into the protest over several days. Industrial workers were also drawn into the successful protest.
I feel good to read that ICWP activists mobilized masses to join the protest as communists. Hundreds of ICWP activists formed themselves into groups of ten to distribute the Red Flag. It is heartwarming to read such good stories. I read this Red Flag many times, repeating it over and over without getting tired.
I am also reminded of our tries this side. I remember when we went into the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium joining masses who came to listen to Zuma, the former president of the African National Congress. We were delivering Red Flags. I don’t remember which year it was.
In India there are over a billion inhabitants. In Africa there are also over a billion inhabitants. China has got over a billion inhabitants. Leaving us with a lot to do all over the world, mobilizing those billions into communist inhabitants through communist revolution.

Letter: “Everyone” Should Really Mean Everyone
Thanks to the authors of the useful and informative article “World Cup: Mass Propaganda, Not Sport.”
I hope that others will discuss, and write about, how comrades can use sports today to advance communism and the ICWP. And about their thinking about games and sports in communist society.
I want to talk about something different. The article says that football (soccer)“is a sport that nearly everyone can play.” This probably means “in a society where everyone has the resources to stay healthy.” And where special leagues are everywhere available for differently-abled people. Like the football league in Gaza for the many, many players who are now amputees because of Israel’s genocidal attacks.
But we are materialists, and that is not the world we live in. For example, many millions of children and youths experience malnutrition severe enough to affect their everyday activities. Globally, nine million people die annually from hunger-related causes. Do starving people have the energy to play football?
More broadly, many people who played (or could have played) football at some point in their lives later develop morbidities that severely limit mobility. They can no longer play. But they still count among “everyone”!
I don’t want to argue about whether “almost everyone” who can play football, should play. Or should want to. I’m just saying that “commitment” doesn’t always guarantee “ability.” When we talk about “everyone” it should be clear that everyone includes those of us who are often marginalized by ageism or ableism.
