Join ICWP to Turn Imperialist World War III into Communist Revolution
March 10— A US Tomahawk missile murdered 165 schoolgirls in southern Iran. Then Israeli planes bombed oil and gas refineries in the capital, Tehran. Huge clouds of toxic chemicals poisoned almost ten million people and fell as acid rain. Water supplies, already scarce, are dangerously low after the US bombed a desalination plant in Iran and Iran attacked one in Bahrain.
US rulers lie that the war is to “liberate” the Iranian masses. But hundreds of thousands rallied defiantly against the attacks at 3:00 am after the refineries were hit.
The US and Zionist rulers try to hide the extent to which Iran has successfully targeted Israel itself and US bases regionally. The casualties and the physical destruction. The devastating economic impacts on workers everywhere. Comrades in Chennai (India) couldn’t go to work because gas prices doubled. An Egyptian comrade reports that food prices have skyrocketed in Africa.
The capitalist system even in “peacetime” is deadly to the masses and destroys the environment. As global conflicts spiral into world war, we see more clearly the urgent need to end it.
Masses are starving, not just for food but for change. We must build a massive International Communist Workers’ Party to smash this bloody racist system once and for all. Only communism can liberate us!
US and Zionist Regimes Want to Turn Iran into Another Gaza
“Netanyahu and the Ayatollah are butchers,” said a comrade sheltering in a Tel Aviv basement. “And Trump and Xi are super butchers.”
As US and Israeli bombs targeted Iran, the Israeli military sealed off Gaza. No food, water, or medical supplies got in. Starvation, typhus, and cholera spread. Fascist Israeli civilians are more aggressively driving Palestinians from the West Bank. Israeli troops fought Hezbollah forces to move into Lebanon as Israel bombed its capital, Beirut.
US/Israeli weapons have levelled much of Iran’s above-ground military and industrial infrastructure. They are threatening another wave of bombing that would likely target universities, hospitals, and neighborhoods. This would mimic the Zionist “mowing the grass” strategy in Gaza. US war secretary Hegseth made the genocidal intention clear when he mocked “Iranians that think they’re gonna live.”
But Iran, the second-largest country in the region, is not tiny Gaza. Russia and China, the two imperialist powers capable of challenging the US, actively support Iran.
“This is the best time to organize, because the rulers are losing their ideological grip on the working class,” said ICWP comrades in Tel Aviv. They share Red Flag newspaper electronically from the bunkers. Actual red flags are appearing in mass anti-war protests in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
“I was confused when we overthrew Mubarak fifteen years ago,” said an ICWP comrade in Egypt. “Now I know we need communism. We have to organize! Especially in the armed forces.”
End Capitalism, the Root of War
This war escalates the imperialists’ fight to control Persian Gulf oil. It’s not just Trump and Bibi. It’s the global competition stemming from capitalism’s imperative to grow or die. Competition for markets, labor, resources. When finance capitalists can’t find profitable investments in productive enterprises, they invest in destruction. Destruction of their rivals’ productive capacity. That makes world war inevitable.
The world was already at war. Ukraine and NATO vs. Russia. India vs. a China-backed Pakistan. Pakistan vs. Afghanistan. Sudan. Myanmar. Venezuela. Yemen.
But this seems to be a tipping point in the decline of US imperialism. The Chinese rulers are arming Iran and negotiating with the Gulf states. The Gulf rulers see that US bases make them targets rather than protecting them.
The Russian rulers may be the main winners. With the Strait of Hormuz closed, Russian state-owned companies profit from high oil prices. Trump seems poised to lift sanctions to avoid domestic consequences of rising consumer costs.
We workers are the main losers. The enemy of your enemy isn’t always your friend. No capitalist, no imperialist, is a friend of any workers. Working people have no country. When communist revolution destroys capitalism everywhere, there will be no nations and no borders anywhere. Internationalism is the key to our victory. Nationalism is a barrier.
Workers Can Win the Class War by Mobilizing Masses for Communism
We see the power of industrial workers in the current strike wave in India. And in the apartheid GCC states, where almost 90% of the population is from South Asia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Airports, hotels, US military bases all rely on these abused and super-exploited workers. Many ICWP comrades in India have friends and relatives among them.
For the bosses to wage their war on the working class globally, they must rely on the working class itself. Workers in the armed forces, oil fields, and industry are capable of turning this around into communist revolution.
From South Africa to the USA, soldiers often don’t make a living wage. As the Egyptian comrade said, we must win them to fight for our working class, not for the capitalists!
Young people, especially, must think deeply about today’s realities. They must become part of the solution by joining ICWP. Voting won’t save us. Nonviolent resistance won’t break our chains.
Only communist revolution can empower us to build a new world based on collectivity, sharing, sustainability, and respect. A world without money, where nothing and nobody is bought or sold. Where today’s endless wars will finally end.
