Industrial Workers Contemplate Their Future
SEATTLE (USA), May 17 — Frank and his Boeing industrial worker friends have been organizing social/ political meetings for months now. ICWP comrades have also attended. Now the bosses have forced Frank to move to Boeing South Carolina to work for a year with a 50% wage cut — or lose his job. Rank-and-file activists promised to keep in touch. Some already have.
At least seven thousand Boeing employees work in the South Carolina plant. The State of South Carolina and the US government gave Boeing billion$$ to entice the company to move there.
The area is also a huge military site. Joint Base Charleston includes 79,000 airmen, sailors, soldiers, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and Department of Defense employees.
Frank regularly came to ICWP potlucks and social meetings in Seattle to make new political relationships. He was never afraid of communist discussions. He left books that he thought were useful, like John Reed’s Insurgent Mexico and Ten Days That Shook the World. Some industrial workers are now reading Reed’s books to better understand communist political history. At the next ICWP potluck, Boeing friends want to discuss what they read.
Until recently, Boeing had been laying off industrial workers, like the layoffs of more than 150,000 US tech employees. Of late, more aerospace workers have been recruited, mostly young. The capitalists’ need for weapons, ammo, and war has changed everything.
The first of Frank’s group’s social discussions centered around the corruption of Boeing union leaders. The second quickly moved to the need for an active international class consciousness. That took over the rest of the discussion.
A new blue-collar worker demanded that Boeing activists organize to put an end to the Iran war. A comrade and another worker spent time explaining the difference between communist collective factories for workers’ needs and capitalist war and fascism.
Frank continues to distribute Red Flag, as do his friends. Some are working for a classless, money-less society that welcomes immigrants from all over the world.
“I will never forget the needs of global industrial workers,” Frank promised. He speaks passionately about how industrial workers must eliminate capitalism. He has a capability of defending communist work over an extensive period. Frank can help build a communist future in the ICWP.
We invite him and his friends, and all Red Flag readers, to join us
Letter: No Justice for Workers Under Capitalism
In recent demonstrations and marches across the US, we have heard many people say that they believe in the laws of this country. And, that justice would prevail if only the ruling class would just follow the rules! This is a dangerous belief…because the ruling class uses their power to interpret the law in favor of their goals.
A perfect example of this is happening in Spokane, Washington. In June 2025, there was a protest there against ICE (fascist immigration police). A federal jury has found three protesters guilty on felony conspiracy charges. One is a US military veteran who served in Afghanistan. They face potential sentences of up to six years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
During the trial the judge, who was appointed by President Biden, ruled that the protesters could not use the first amendment as a defense. The first amendment to the US Constitution supposedly protects people’s rights to speech, expression and assembly.
However, the judge did allow hours of testimony by ICE agents and cops. One ICE agent who testified had posted on social media racist and sexist statements about the protesters.
There was no evidence that the three protesters ever communicated with each other during or before the demonstration. So no conspiracy could have taken place. And no ICE agents were injured during the demonstration, so no felonies took place.
This did not seem to matter, because after 24 hours the jury returned with unanimous guilty verdicts against all three defendants. Former acting US attorney Richard Barker said, “I question whether justice was truly served by today’s verdict.” No shit! Somebody got paid!
There has never been any justice for workers under capitalism and there never will be. The ruling class controls the cops, the courts, the judge, and the jury. Only when we seize power through a communist revolution will there be justice for our class. Join ICWP today!
