March 8: International Working Women’s Day

Working Women Leaders: Key to the Communist Revolution

Women and men defend the Paris Commune, 1871

Since 1917, 8 March has been a day of working women’s struggles to overthrow capitalism, to abolish wage slavery and the domestic slavery of women.

On 18 March we celebrate the birth of the Paris Commune of 1871, the first time workers took power and used it to organize and run society in their own interest. Working women were key in every aspect of the Commune, from its beginning to its final battle.

This inspires us to fight for a communist world where all work is shared by all, regardless of gender.

Demonstrations worldwide show the strength and leadership of working women. The ICWP fights for the unity of all genders in the struggle against capitalism.

Only with communism will we finally end sexism, racism, xenophobia, and homophobia.
